general all-around guide

Before I dive in with dopey newbie's questions, can anyone recommend a basic guide to widget creation? I want to use the Scroller product but want first to find a site designed to teach and handhold a newbie through the basics of widget creation.

I have absolutely no experience with programming, so a site at the level of a how-to, or a wizard, or a creator site will help. Then I can come back here and ask less basic questions.

Essentially I want to create a scroller which dynamically loads in the headlines of post titles from a blog.

By the way, thanks for providing what seems a tremendously helpful service.

Nobody likes reading documentation unless there is no other way around (I don't pretend to be the exception).
Suggested approach would be to download the samples and start playing with them. Configuration files have comments explaining the parameters. When you get to the advanced levels there's that least desirable documentation reading thing.
